Happy New Year Everyone!

My January 12 gig at The Libertine has been moved to February due to a remodeling of the venue.  I will let you all know the date of the performance once its set.  Meanwhile, I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season.  I had a very low key birthday, Christmas and New Year’s spent with family and friends.  I’m looking forward to 2012 and all of its possibilities.

Yes, it’s that time of year again.  The holiday known as Christmas and otherwise known as Lisa Sheppard’s Birthday.  I would like to wish everyone a healthy and happy holiday season.  I have received many blessings this year to be thankful for and I am so appreciative of my family and friends and all of the people who have played or listened to my music this year.  Please come out to hear me play on January 9, 2012 at The Libertine on Sunset.  This will be my new “home” for a while at 8 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month.  I am grateful to Music Source for this booking and allowing me the opportunity to play routinely.  I will be accompanied at this gig by the amazing Rich McCulley and Todd Herfindal.

Last week was a big week for me.  I made the SPINS top 50 Country chart with my song “Blue Tonight” off my new album Neon Lights.  And beginning December 8, I will start a residency the 2nd Thursday of every month at 8 p.m. at The Libertine on Sunset in West Hollywood, California.  I will be joined by two amazing musicians Rich McCulley and Todd Herfindal at these gigs who make me sound amazing.  I’m so grateful to have them with me at this venue.  And special thanks to Ace Michaels at Music Source for booking me at The Libertine!

I will be playing an all acoustic set on November 12 at 8 p.m. at Pierre Garden in Glendale, CA.  This is an upscale venue where you can come for dinner or drinks.  And, hopefully, this will become a steady gig!  I would love it if you can make it out to show your support for me and my music!  I will be accompanied by the amazing Rich McCulley and Todd Herfindal.

I thought I should send out an October update to all of you on my music news.  No upcoming gigs right now – but I’ll be sure to send out an update if I play one before the end of the year.

I just found out that my music will be added to Women of Substance Radio.   http://www.womenofsubstanceradio.com/.  This is a great online radio station that plays a number of incredibly talented female artists.  My music will be included in their January 1 quarter show.  I’m very excited about that!

I’m still hanging in there on the SPINS tracking charts for country radio stations with my song Blue Tonight.  Last week I made the Country Spincrease, Country Primemover and Country Up and Coming Charts.

It’s pretty painless and easy.  And I could sure use the support.  I hope you try the recipe — it’s delicious.  The goat cheese is optional.  And you can make a veggie version as well by eliminating the meat or substituting tofu for the chicken.  It’s also a great dish to serve over rice or pasta — although I actually invented it because I was following a strict low carb diet at the time.  If you try it and like it, let me know!  Also, feel free to share your recipes with me.  I’m such a geek for food that I’m constantly adding food apps on my iPad and iPod.

I had the great joy and privilege of meeting and seeing Lukas Nelson perform on Saturday night at The Troubador in Los Angeles.  That boy can flat out play guitar!  I thoroughly enjoyed his set and he has so much energy onstage it’s amazing!  He must have played for a full 2 hours.  If you haven’t heard his music, check him out at his website http://www.promiseofthereal.com/.  I love that his music can’t be pigeon-holed into a specific genre.  His set is a diverse blend of rockin’ material.  Some songs are more blues influenced, and some are more country influenced.  All are great.  He definitely has carved out a place in music for himself, not just as “the son of Willie Nelson”.  He stands alone and totally rocks the house!
